Family History
I’m going to be a little personal here and talk about why I’m a big advocate of health and fitness – why I do what I do.
I started Bisbee’s Fitness in honour of my aunt who passed away. She was morbidly obese and cancer spread throughout her entire body like wildfire. This makes sense new research demonstrates that cancer metalizes with the more carbohydrates that you eat. As cancer cells gobble up carbs, carbs feed the cancer and make it stronger. I will discuss this in a future article.
My grandfather died of Alzheimer’s disease and again new research claims Alzheimer’s is Type 3 Diabetes because Alzheimer’s has characteristics of both Type 1 (decreased insulin production) and Type II diabetes (insulin resistance).
My uncle on my mom’s side died of brain cancer before I was born which is where I got my middle name from (Kenneth) and my uncle on my dad’s side passed away a few years ago from ALS.
Needless to say, my family history indicates I have my work cut out for me if I want to live to a ripe old age. That is my BIG motivator to exercise and be healthy.
It turns out that I am not alone either because when people are motivated by health factors they tend to stick with exercise and a healthier lifestyle more than someone who isn’t motivated.
Exercise paired with the proper nutrition can prevent many diseases including different types of cancer. It can also prevent high blood pressure – which left unchecked can turn into a disease.
If you really dislike resistance training try something else! Anything –swimming, walking, running, any kind of sports etc. But keep in mind when you get to a plateau and you don’t notice any changes any more this usually means you have to change things up.
If you are one of the ones who are short on time and can’t spend hours at a gym, that’s fine – exercising just 15 minutes per day can do remarkable things for your overall health and well-being.
One of the reasons why I really like kettlebells is that in just one to four exercises you can work your entire body and you are done for the day in less than 45 minutes.
So if you are struggling to exercise and you get frustrated by always falling off of the bandwagon, find your why- If you have fallen off don’t get frustrated, tomorrow is a new day.
Without knowing the why, you are a lighthouse without a light.
