Track Your Way To Success
Being successful is an easy concept, it’s just very hard to follow through. Successful people are excellent at the small things. If you want to be successful at anything, start tracking it.
Want to save your money? Print out three months worth of bank statements to see how much you need to live on and how much money you waste on the odd coffee or the occasional dinner out. Then put your plan to work every single time that you go out for a coffee write it down or a dinner out, write that stuff down. By writing it down, you are acknowledging your bad habit that you don’t pay attention to anymore.
Another example is weight loss, write down a habit that you want to work on, for instance, eat 3-4 simple meals per day. Every day that you are satisfied with that particular habit to write an x in a box. When you feel you have that particular habit accomplished, work on another one in two or three weeks time. The reason why is so if something isn’t working like your body fat percentage isn’t going down you know where to look at, either your nutrition or your exercise.
Tracking habits work. Saying “I’ll just do it in my head” or I’ll just try and cut back” almost NEVER works. Another great reason why you should track your healthy habits is so you can keep an accurate record. Also if you end up adding one habit on top of another say with your nutrition, you might only remember your recent habit and forget about the others. Tracking habits also prevent you from slipping up to your old ways again; you may be unsure what changed that halted your progress but what you wrote down could probably help you where you went wrong so next time if you stumble you can quickly troubleshoot it so that problem doesn’t happen again.
