Masters of Strength
If you have been reading my blogs, you know that I am a big proponent on kettlebells. Although you don’t put on mass like other methods do (barbell training), Kettlebells should still be a big part of your training. By using kettlebells, you are taught so much more about how your body can work under load and when it comes to the big lifts you don’t need a weightlifting belt or gloves because there is no room for wussy strength.
The two men that I’m featuring in today’s blog have done some incredible feats of strength with or without the barbell and its all a huge part because of kettlebell training.
Levi Markwardt is the manager at Athletic Republic in Spirit Lake in Iowa. He’s a classic example of someone that has a lot of “cardio” and he is also very muscular. He is an RKC (Dragon Door) kettlebell coach as well as an SMK(Strength Matters) kettlebell coach. Check these videos out for further proof.
That’s a 32kg kettlebell, and he is doing 200 snatches in under 10 minutes! That’s almost double the requirements of what Strong First asks for their kettlebell certification.
Here is another example of kettlebell strength. Most of the population can’t do a 200lb bench press let alone a 200lb Barbell Turkish Get Up.
The other person that I would like to mention is Granville Mayers. Granville owns Athletic Leaders in Mississauga Ontario. He has every single course with Strong First. SFG Level One and SFG Level Two with the kettlebells, SFG Bodyweight Instructor, and SFG Barbell Instructor.
Before he started training with kettlebells, his bench press was 495lb which is the same now, but because the kettlebell swing is the main exercise when it comes to the kettlebells his deadlift shot through the roof from 495lbs to 615lbs!
Here are a few video’s of him in action.
By combining kettlebells and barbells together, your strength will go through the roof! Don’t take my word for it. The action is in the pudding with these two gentlemen.
