Hack Your Way To A Stronger, Healthier, You!
Life hacks are simple ways to make your life easier. To anything ranging from using a rubber band to keep a door from latching. If your room smells bad- tape a dryer sheet over the AC unit and turn it on and if you need an expensive cookbook holder- use a pants hanger. As you can see some of these life hacks are ridiculous but there are lots of other ones out there, and some of them are quite useful. In this blog, I will explain some life hacks to get your fitness and nutrition in.
“Grease The Groove” This is a term that came from Pavel Tsatsouline. Pavel started the whole kettlebell phenomonon, he brought the kettlebells from Russia in the year 2000 and now they are in every single gym and Crossfit box across North America. Greasing the groove means practising a movement so many times during the day. But in this blog, we are going to do things differently. Every time you walk past a pull-up bar, do a pull-up. Every time you get off of your chair do 20 squats. Before you drive somewhere, you should do 20 pushups. This is just an example but it’s a sneaky way to get some exercise in, and it wouldn’t take much of your time at all.
Soup- If you are struggling to get your water intake in and your veggie intake in for the day. How about making a bowl of soup? Here is a great recipe for one.
Take all the bones from a cooked chicken (no fat or skin, but leave meat on) OR place two chicken legs (bone in) in a crockpot with 8c of water. Put on high for 4h. Pull out bones and shred chicken; return chicken to crockpot. Mince garlic (to taste) and slice one onion, carrots and celery; put in crockpot with broth and chicken. Add 1 cup of orzo, 1tsp each of basil, thyme and parsley. Salt and pepper to taste, and add red pepper flakes if you want some heat. Cook for 1h on high and enjoy.
Super Shakes– Super shakes are protein shakes except on steroids. No, not at all but what I mean by that is it’s more than just protein. You get your healthy fats and carbohydrates in it as well. Here are two great recipes that you can use.
Chocolate Mint Shake- 1/2 cup of water, one scoop of chocolate protein powder, 1/3 cup of cottage cheese, 1 1/2 tsp cocoa, 2-3 drops of mint extract, five ice cubes, one serving of Greens + supplement and 25g of pecans.tsouline, Kettlebells, Soup, water, vegetables, chicken, protein powder, super shakes, pull ups
Almond Coconut Shake- 1 cup of chocolate Calorie Countdown, one scoop of chocolate protein powder, one serving of Greens + supplement, six almonds, 1 tbsp of grated unsweetened coconut, 1/2 tsp almond extract, 1 tbsp ground flax seeds, 1 cup of ice
